Houston Country Club's Craig Trahan Earns Master Professional
By Dave Daubert
The PGA of America has announced that Craig Trahan, PGA Director of Instruction at Houston Country Club, has earned PGA Master Professional status-the highest educational designation that can be obtained by a PGA Member.
The Master Professional Program is available to any PGA Professional who has achieved advanced certification through the PGA Certified Professional Program which was launched in 2004. The curriculum includes an extensive project based on the specific certification previously acquired by the Professional. Upon approval of the project and successful completion of a presentation, a PGA Member earns the prestigious PGA Master Professional status. To be eligible, the PGA Master Professional Program requires a minimum of 10 years of PGA Membership.
A PGA Member since 2006, Trahan is recognized as one of the "Best YoungTeachers in America" according to Golf Digest. Prior to achieving Master Professional designation, he earned PGA Certified Professional status in Teaching & Coaching and Golf Operations.
"Attaining Master Professional status has been a goal of mine since I entered the industry, and this is a true
reflection of the hard work and dedication as I am committed to growing the game of golf with enthusiasm and passion," said Craig. "I want to inspire other PGA Members to be the best they can be, so they can make a positive impact on those around them and the game of golf."
The PGA Master Professional Program was established in 1969 to recognize PGA Members who have made a significant effort to improve as golf professionals and maintain the highest degree of excellence for themselves and their operations. As part of its Member education curriculum, the program was designed to ensure PGA Professionals are prepared to meet the growing demands of the marketplace.
Houston Country Club is one of the oldest and most exclusive private clubs in the city, located in the Tanglewood neighborhood and originally founded in 1908. The club has just recently gone through a full $80 million renovation of all its facilities including a new fitness center to offer new amenities to a younger generation of members.
