Golf Course Information
The MGA invited the WGA ladies to a scramble Oct 14. It was a great day; the weather was cool and clear. The air was electric. No wind. The greens had mostly recovered from the hail damage the Monday night before and were quite manageable, making putting a no-brainer affair.
When the dust cleared, 4 teams were in the money. Eldon Tarver's, first, Bud Goodwin's second, Bruce Lomax's third, and Bill Curtis's fourth.
Following the golf match , lunch was provided, and what a lunch it was. Bev and Bob Westbrook with the help of Nettie Blair (not Billy) put together a brisket meal to die for. Beans, japs, pickles, sliced onions, salad (both green and potato, homemade), tea to drink. Karen Neidner jumped in and helped, too. We were even allowed to use the good flatware. Larry Meyers, who provided some of the sauces, was the honcho in the background, making sure there were no mistakes. Luckily for all of us, there were no mistakes and tranquility prevailed. 40 were served.
Someone, tacky for sure, noticed Doug Miller, who had semi-organized the teams, was curiously on Eldon's team. "Just a coincidence," was his comment. 15-Oct-10
